Our Story

Chris Packert completed an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from West Virginia University and an M.Ed. in Instructional Design and Technology from George Mason University. With this education in hand, he taught high school biology, chemistry and earth science for 11 years in Virginia. While in graduate school, he also developed a scientific curriculum for NASA’s website, The Observatorium.

He also received the Coach of the Year award from the Buddy Werner League for his contributions to coaching within the organization.”

In addition to teaching, Chris also created The RiverRidge Foundation, a 501C3 nonprofit organization that facilitated two environmental science programs. The first was a summer science camp for first through eighth graders. The second program used a blended learning approach to help high school students develop a passion and love for science by using an eLearning platform to connect them with biologists from Costa Rica who taught them about scientific research. After completing the eLearning course, students traveled to Costa Rica and worked with these biologists to conduct their research and finish their projects. In 2009, Chris won first place in a national curriculum review by the National Educational Broadband Service Association for “ground-breaking educational uses of wireless broadband services.”

After many years of classroom teaching, he left secondary education to take a position as an instructional designer for the Marine Corps’ College of Distance Education and Training. This position provided him with many opportunities to expand his skillset as an educator as he learned how to create a robust blended curriculum for adult learners within a training environment.

Gaining more professional growth as an instructional designer after taking a position with American Public University, he learned how to seamlessly build highly engaging and effective eLearning and blended university courses by applying dynamic developmental learning principles while successfully managing a multitude of projects simultaneously.

In 2016, Chris was hired as the Coach Development Manager for U.S. Ski & Snowboard where he develops coaching curriculum for the seven disciplines of the organization and runs coaching clinics across the country. While in this role, Chris delivered the keynote address for the U.S. Center for Coaching Excellence’s North American Summit. In 2018, Chris created Emerge ID and manages a staff of highly trained professionals that helps other organizations develop highly impactful curriculums in coaching, leadership and management. His organization assists other National Governing Bodies including the US Tennis Association, US Lacrosse, USA Hockey and USA Weightlifting, as well as other sports organizations and corporations to create relevant, engaging and impactful courses that have produced extremely positive results in learning retention and skill development.

Throughout his career, he has enjoyed the opportunity to coach various sports and age groups. While teaching high school, he served as the head coach for both the high school baseball and tennis teams for several years. He also currently works part-time as a ski instructor, teaching kids and adults alike for over 10 years. In addition, he is also in his fifth year as a volunteer head coach for a local ski racing program in Beaver Creek, Colorado.
