Why you need to Invest in an L&D Strategy

While eLearning may seem like it is just a convenient alternative to traditional training, it actually provides many benefits. A successful learning and design (L&D) program will save you time and money while also improving employee performance and success. Below are the top 3 reasons why you should invest in an L&D strategy:

  1. Build Better Relationships and Improve Communication
There are several ways that an L&D program improves relationships and communication within an organization. One way is through diversity, equity, and inclusion training, “L&D is helping to create a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable (DEI) workplace. According to the LinkedIn Learning 2021 Workplace Learning Report, 64 percent of global L&D pros report that their executives have prioritized DEI programs” (The Value of L&D, 2021).

Another way to improve relationships and communication is by developing a community forum within your LMS. When working with L&D professionals, they can advise you on the best ways to develop an LMS that fosters communication where employees can ask questions, and share resources.

  1. Specialized Training is more Successful
There is a variety of training materials available on the market, be it the internet or through specialized training providers. However, not all of these may be relevant to your business and your employees may find them a waste of time” (Blaszczak, 2021). A custom built training program is the best way to ensure success and improve your ROI. When employers participate in training that is relevant to their career pathway, they feel more successful and confident in their position and therefore, are more likely to remain with the company. Specialized learning and development also allows people to be more aware of what is currently going on in their fields, what is trending, and how they can advance in their role (Malec, 2022).

  1. Reusable Materials

One of the greatest benefits of eLearning is that the materials are reusable and readily available. Unlike in person training, employees can return to eLearning materials at any time to refresh their memory. Reusable materials also save time and money on travel and resources that are required for in person training. Of course materials will require updates, but most L&D Strategies will provide plans for future edits and revisions.

While a successful L&D Strategy will take time to create and implement, the benefits it may provide are immense. Providing the right training to your employees allows them to feel confident and boosts success.
